Samantha: “But you! How are YOU doing?” “Yes, no, maybe, I don’t know, can you repeat the question?” (They Might Be Giants)
I think the melancholy side of me that used to create such introspective posts (oh, about 75 years ago) jumped out of a window somewhere along the way. Wonderful things like husbands and babies will do that to you. Does it say something about the state of your life when all you can think to describe yourself is what you’ve been doing? The words “pondering,” “thinking,” and “sitting still” aren’t part of my current vocabulary. To be fair, it’s not really because of my girl. I do spend time with her (usually resulting in me feeling 20 years younger… joy joy!), but just between you and me, she’s quite the little sleepoholic. I guess with working, looking for different work, cleaning, familyizing, and chilling with friends, I don’t usually sit down and ask how I’m doing. Maybe I should. I am happy though – so happy. Thanks for asking!
